Ovation Celebrity Electric Acoustic Guitar
The total, deep dish, and non-cutaway human body of this tool implies that - from a quick length away - it is a US-made Ovation Balladeer. When you get closer, but you find it is a "Celebrity" design - though this's from the early part. Its serial quantity suggests it really is a 1979 model, though i must say I question that a bit since these are generally 80s guitars. Interestingly, unlike most Celebrity models, there's no "made in Korea" (or any country-of-origin) notice regarding label it self, though that is most likely an import.
While I esteem the major dish and non-cutaway (much more tonal depth/power - one of the best "early Jake" guitars was a late-60s Balladeer), the very best is a bit much more heavily-braced than your typical "real" Ovation also it's laminate. There have also various muckings-about with the guitar by past proprietors, but after regluing/shaving the bridge, a heavy-handed fret level/dress, and a lot of cleaning and setup, i must admit that is playing very well and sounds a lot better than it should. Work, incidentally, had been for grandson associated with the initial owner.
I always liked the folksy diamond-style inlay used on Ovation guitars.
The connection was a complete task - it absolutely was epoxied into the laminate top which caused myself some concern, but eventually I happened to be capable of getting everything up and reglue it straight back "down pat." To get the action down, I then needed seriously to shave both connection and saddle (a fairly typical need on old import Ovations) then place a sealer coating straight back on the bridge to have it evaluating leas half-way "right."
